Visions of Light
Chris Wood is a UK based artist with a career spanning over 25 years. Known for her signature light-responsive artworks and transformative installations, Wood has garnered global acclaim, culminating in the establishment of the Chris Wood Light Studio , est. 2015.
Wood’s creative practice utilises optical materials to harness light and suggest ephemeral glimpsed moments in the natural world. Her meticulous pattern work and mathematical arrangements order the accidental and transform light into spectacular displays of vibrant colour.
This selection of work traces the evolution of my practice as it has expanded into unexpected avenues and new creative expressions. From intricate patterns and large-scale, integrated installations that transform entire spaces, to intimate gallery-based light works that explore the quiet magic found in the physics of natural, everyday elements, each project reflects a deepening inquiry into perception and experience.
Over the years, my work has travelled across the globe, sharing my passion and perspective with an ever-growing audience. This has been made possible in part by digital platforms such as Interalia which play a vital role in bridging the work of artists and practitioners with an international audience.
My practice continues to evolve toward more ambitious and experimental works, drawing attention to the remarkable phenomena of light.
