American-born and Korean-raised, Lisa Park is a multidisciplinary artist who is currently based in New York. In the past few years, she started experimenting with biosensors (brainwave, heart-rate monitoring devices) as a vehicle for manifesting her inner states. Park’s recent performances “Eunoia” and “Eunoia II” involved using a commercial brainwave(EEG) headset as a self-monitoring tool to obtain real-time feedback of her emotional reactions. The performances were done in an attempt to visually reflect the vibrations of the mind by expressing herself on the surface of the water.
She is selected to be a current member of NEW INC, New Museum’s first museum-led incubator in art, technology, and design. Park is a recipient of NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) Fellowship in the category of Digital/Electronic Arts. Her works were featured on Wired, The Creators Project, The New York Times’ Bits Blog, Time Out New York, New York Post, Daily News, PBS’ Off Book Series, and Intel’s Make it Wearable video, and many other publications.
She received a Master’s degree in the Interactive Telecommunications Program from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts and has a BFA in Fine Art Media at Art Center College of Design.
