Federico Carbajal was born in Mexico in 1978. He received a BA in architecture from Universidad Iberoamericana Leon and an MA in architecture at the Université de Montreal, where his MA thesis won second prize for the Steel Structures Education Foundation Scholarship. Since 2002, he has worked for various architecture firms.
He first encountered sculpture in New York where he found work as Holton Rower’s assistant in 2000. In 2010, he enrolled in an independent studies programme and a later project that year won him the Emerging Sculptors Exhibition’s Artcast prize from SSC. His work has been exhibited in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada, and is currently represented by Dominique Bouffard Gallery. He lives and works in Montréal.
