Astrid Alben is a poet, editor and translator. Her most recent collection Ai! Ai! Pianissimo was published by Arc Publications. Her poems, essays, translations and reviews are widely published, including in the Times Literary Supplement, Best of British Poetry Anthology 2015, Oxford Poetry and Granta. Her poetry is translated into Romanian, Dutch, Slovenian and Chinese. Her next collection, Plainspeak, an alter-ego-thinking-out-louder book, will be ready this year. Alben is a FRSA and Wellcome Trust Fellow.

Alben is the artistic director of PARS. PARS invites artists and scientists to share their most revealing, beautiful and mind-boggling thoughts and research around particular topics. These get published in a series called Findings on…: Findings on Ice, Finding on Elasticity and Findings on Light. PARS also curates events that are a mixture of art, theatre and scientific experiments at different venues, e.g. Treats on Laughter. The aim of PARS is to stimulate curiosity and celebrate beauty in knowledge.
