Dr. Sona Ahuja is M.Sc.,M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Education. She is working as a teacher-educator in Dept. of Pedagogical Sciences, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI), Agra, India. Her primary research interests are consciousness studies, pedagogical practices, yoga and meditation. She is team member of Consciousness Quotient Institute and has conducted researches using CQ-i. She is also active participant of activities at Center for Consciousness Studies, DEI.
She has guided researches like effect of music enrichment programme on academic achievement, level of adjustment and consciousness of mentally challenged children; effect of contemplative pedagogy on self-regulation, cognitive flexibility, mindfulness and conscious experience. Dr. Ahuja has conducted series of experimental studies to examine the effect of yoga and ultra-transcendental meditation (based on Oriental Philosophy of Saints – Radhasoami Faith).
In these experiments, she has studied the effect on mindfulness, different factors of conscious experience, attention, metacognition, mind-wandering and is presently exploring its effect on different aspects of cognition. As part of her academic interest, she prepares prospective mathematics teachers for conscious education since a decade. She has visited different teacher education departments in her country and abroad to integrate the best practices in teacher education.
