“My work is inspired equally by architecture and neuroscience. Through a layering of geometric networks, my work provides a glimpse into the complexity and functionality of neural processes. It explores human perception from the inside and out: how we take in and recollect visual information through the anatomy of our brains, and the unruly imagery it creates in the mind’s eye.”

Artist Statement:
My work is inspired equally by architecture and neuroscience. Through a layering of geometric networks, my work provides a glimpse into the complexity and functionality of neural processes. It explores human perception from the inside and out: how we take in and recollect visual information through the anatomy of our brains, and the unruly imagery it creates in the mind’s eye.
My drawings are the fragmented visions of memory. As one experiences the world, the brain captures details selectively. This is a survival trait that enables the mind to glaze over what isn’t essential and allows for much inventiveness and revision. My drawings describe these images; certain areas are clear while others fade into abstraction. They are a puzzle of innumerable component parts that assemble to create the essence of a space. My sculptures are abstract structures representing the anatomy behind these experiences. They depict networks of neurons, central nervous system anatomy, and theories of biological evolution related to human brain development. The designs are meant to mirror the methodical yet creative nature of scientific study.
